Our Story
Salerno FamilyRuth and Tony Salerno and their family organized Windy City Amusements in 1977. Truly a family business, each unit is managed and operated by a Salerno family member. From marketing to layout to final cleanup, our family takes great pride in the work we do.

Today, Ruth and Tony's tradition is carried on by their family, Anthony Jr., Mark and Cheryl, and Michael and Dawn Salerno along with their children who have taken an active role in the company.

Windy City Amusements is active in many associations and organizations that promote safety and good business practices. We are members of local chambers of commerce, the Showmen's league Of America, the Outdoor Amusement Business Association, the Illinois Agricultural Association of Fairs, the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, Master Masons Geneva Blue Lodge #139, and the Fox Valley Shriners. Each of these organizations sets standard and promotes safety and responsibility in the industry.

In addition to our membership in these trade organizations, we have been at the forefront of the industry in ride safety. Some of our achievements include:
  • Helped write the first Inspection Ride Checklist for the Chicago Business Association and Suburban Building Conference.
  • Cosponsored the 1983 Ride Inspection Seminar in the Northwest Municipal Conference.
  • Conducted round table discussions on Safety and Maintenance at the annual Illinois Agricultural Fair Convention.
  • Cosponsored Amusement Ride Safety Inspection Seminar with Elk Grove Village Fire Department.
  • Organized a Ride Inspection Seminar for the Illinois Volunteer Firefighters Association
  • Licensed, professional electrician on duty at all times.

For over 49 years, Windy City Amusements has provided clean, safe customer friendly midways for non-profit groups and city governments in and around the Chicagoland area. We have raised millions of dollars to help build schools, churches, and generate income for important needs all over Northern Illinois.

Working with churches, schools, charities and government groups, we have safely thrilled millions of guests from around Chicagoland while also having an enormous positive impact on the local community.
